Scene 1:
Shot opens on TW Salesman (TWS) fiddling with equipment in a clean studio.
The impression is that TWS is shooting the video himself. TWS is wearing
electric guitar on a strap. Stops fiddling and looks right into camera.
TWS: Is this thing on? Oh. Hi there. My name
is Tom, and I just couldn't wait to tell you about the new Roland ED
U-8 USB Digital Studio. I called the factory and asked if they could
send me a video to show you all the great new features of this machine.
They said yes, but that it would be in about 2 months! And I figured
I could do it myself. So here I am and here is the Roland U-8. Let's
get busy!!!
First point, the U-8 is the first of its kind in the
world. It's the only machine of its kind that allows you to sequence,
record, mixdown and master your own music connected to your computer,
with an incredible range of built-in DSP effects. Now that may seem
like a pretty big statement to make about such a humble looking machine,
but just wait until you see what this baby can do.
Scene 2:
Cuts to "hand drawn" title card full-screen:
Complete Digital Studio - No Sound Card Needed!
TWS lowers card (which he has been holding up to screen)
and plays riff on guitar.
TWS: Imagine if I ever took those lessons? Anyway,
like the sign says, "No sound card needed." That's right!
The U-8 has a built-in 20 bit A/D converter so you don't need a sound
card. You can say goodbye to all that noise and poor dynamics built-in
to your computer.
At the same time, you get the big picture (cut to screen
shot) on your computer monitor. No more little LED windows to try to
decipher.
The U-8 makes your PC into a complete recording studio.
Just plug your guitar or Mic source in and your ready to boogie. And
remember, the U is for USB.
Scene 3:
Various shots of U-8 inputs as V.O. describes features.
TWS: In addition to the A/D converter, the U-8
is MIDI equipped for all your MIDI devices. And it even has a 20 bit
D/A converter so you can record from your DATS, CDs and other digital
sources. A/D, D/A and MIDI with 16 channels and up to 256 MIDI tracks.
What more do you need? You're ready for any recording situation.
Scene 4:
Cut to close up of TWS looking straight at camera.
TWS: What do you need in a home studio? A complete
recording solution without having to buy a lot of equipment and plug-ins.
Well, the U-8 has what it takes. It's not just a recorder, it's not
just a mixer and it's not just an FX processor. It's a unique combination
of features that will have you creating your musical dreams right out
of the box. This baby is the first of it's kind in the world.
Scene 5:
Cut to new full-screen title card:
USB! USB! USB!
TWS lowers card and holds up USB cable to camera. Uses
USB cable like a pointer to emphasize script.
TWS: Can you believe it? The U-8 is USB equipped.
Like all those other features weren't enough already. USB completes
the interfacing to your computer controlled audio and music. It's is
the hottest thing to come along since MIDI. USB finally makes "plug-n-play"
a reality. USB is the choice for PCs and the U-8 takes full advantage
of this great technology.
Scene 6:
Cut to new full screen title card:
Built in DSP multi-FX processor
Sound track has guitar playing through various FX.
Cut to close-up of TWS hands playing on guitar. Music
mutes as V.O. continues.
TWS: What really makes the U-8 stand out is the
incredible DSP multi-FX processor built right into the box. No more
complicated gear set-ups. The U-8 has all you need.
Scene 7:
Cut to close-up of U-8 Effect Mixer Control with hands working knobs.
TWS: A full complement of the finest in Roland
ED sounds for all your sound sculpturing needs. Nobody else has anything
like this. (Sound track changes to distorted voice sound) I can even
change the sound of my voice! (TWS laughs.)
Scene 8:
Cut to waist shot of TWS who has stopped playing and is holding guitar.
TWS: Here is where the price for this wonderful
machine becomes a steal! If you were to try to match the built in sounds
of the U-8 you would have to buy a store full of plug-ins and a powerful
PC to match. The U-8 has them built in and ready to go. Your customers
are going to thank you for this one, 'cause you have just made their
life much, much easier.
Scene 9:
Cut to title card:
Now Let's Produce!
Cut to TWS sitting with at PC and U-8 looking at screen.
Guitar is off and placed in stand next to work station console. TWS
manipulating dials while interface shows results of his actions.
TWS: If all these great features aren't already
enough to grab you, the U-8 comes complete with your choice of two great
software programs: Cakewalk Home Studio 9
(cut to full screen
shot of software) or Steinberg Cubasis VST (cut to full screen shot
of software). These full versions have been specially programmed to
take advantage of the U-8's wide range of features. And of course, the
U-8 works great with all of your other software applications.
Scene 10:
Cut to TWS hands manipulating console.
TWS: And here's another reason why the U-8 is
the first in the world and is gonna make your customers drool. The easy-to-use
controls on the U-8 revolutionize the whole concept of PC recording
by taking an important step BACK. That's right
the U-8 has real
faders for your personal hands-on control.
Scene 11:
Cut to screen showing effects of fader manipulation.
TWS: You can't control 16 channels with just one mouse? The U-8's
unique combination of software flexibility and hardware control makes
computer-controlled recording more intuitive, more real-time and much
more enjoyable. The U-8 - it's the first in the world!
Scene 12:
Cut to mid-shot of TWS cradling U-8 in arms and looking at camera.
TWS: There's so much more I could tell you about
the U-8. Let's see
there's the EZ Recording function that provides
step-by-step instruction and tips to maximize the full power of USB
digital recording? Then there's
But what I really want to do is get back to playing
some music. Do yourself a favor. You've just gotta get the Roland ED
U-8. It's the first in the world
try it and see.
